Beach Break West Coast Pilsner

It seems like every craft brewery in America is making pilsners these days, and it’s understandable why! More and more people are looking for light, crisp beers, especially during the hot summer months. And now we at 7 Devils are finally hopping on the pilsner train! Full speed ahead! We are so excited to present our new Beach Break West Coast Pilsner! This pilsner is a light-bodied lager that we’ve carefully dry hopped to give it a west coast feel. Notes of sweet tropical fruit, citrus, and coconut swirl about in the crisp body of this 4.7% ABV beer. Perfectly refreshing, absolutely crushable, and satisfying to no end, this daytime beer will have you dreaming of the beach!

What even is a pilsner, anyways? Generally speaking, a pilsner is a pale lager with a crisp, clear golden color and a subtle addition of hops. The name pilsner comes from the town of Plzen (or Pilsen) in the modern day Czech Republic, where this style of lager was first brewed in the mid 1800’s. A “true” pilsner uses only barley, hops, and yeast from that region of Europe, however pilsners are now made all around the world in a range of styles. Our pilsner is a newer style of pilsner called a “West Coast” pilsner. This style began seeing widespread popularity in the past 5-10 years. It is characterized by the generous addition of hops to the traditionally low-hopped beer. The result is a light bodied beer with a powerful aroma and flavor. The hundreds of hop varieties available to brewers allows for plenty of recipes and flavor combinations to be made.

Our new Beach Break West Coast Pilsner is brewed with Citra and Talus hops. Citra supplies bright notes of grapefruit, orange, and lemon, while the Talus contributes unique notes of coconut and tropical fruits like pineapple and passionfruit. These two hops synergize to make a sweet and vibrant flavor profile perfect for sipping in the sun. We hope you enjoy it!

And a huge thank you to all of the employees and customers who helped us crowd-source a name for this beer! We had so many great suggestions, but we finally decided that Diana Swenson’s name, the Beach Break Pilsner, suited the beer perfectly! This beer (like all of our beers) is best enjoyed at the beach – thank you Diana!

We hope you enjoy our new pilsner!
