Celebrating the Coast from Farm to Foam
Who We Are
Proudly Pouring since 2013
Beyond the Beer
7 Devils Brewing Co. joined the Coos Bay community as a small craft brewery on a mission to bring our guests beer that is thoughtfully crafted and coast inspired. But beyond the beer, we wanted to create a place that evoked the same feelings of walking to meet the seashore after a long day — restorative and reinvigorating. Our business maintains its social, ethical, and environmental responsibilities to a high standard, without compromise. Both of our locations value job sustainability and aim to provide spaces for passionate people to create inspired products. 7 Devils will always aim to enhance our community by upholding our core values of efficiency, ingenuity, taking pride in our craftsmanship, and providing our guests with a memorable experience. We believe in crafting the change we wish to see in the world.
Annie Pollard
Brewer | Artist | Marine Biologist
Fueled by a desire to combine all of her loves — sustainability, science, art and community. Annie Pollard, the co-owner and CEO of 7 Devils, opened the Coos Bay brewery in 2013.
Before taking on the role of entrepreneur, Annie earned both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in Science from the University of Oregon. She began studying biology and later honed in on marine bird nesting ecology.
Between rehabbing endangered songbirds in Hawaii and researching Antarctic penguins, Annie picked up home-brewing as a hobby straight out of her Eugene apartment — an interest that brought her and 7 Devils co-owner Carmen together.
Her passion for not only conserving and restoring the coast but celebrating it led the pair to open 7 Devils Brewery as a gathering place for the Coos Bay community.
But to Annie, community isn’t just a buzzword. It’s a way of life. On top of her academic, scientific, and zymological accomplishments, Annie is an active organizer for the local Surfrider chapter and a multi-medium artist that shares her talents by teaching a community ceramics class at SWOCC. She also co-chairs Coos County Empty Bowls, a biennial art findraiser for the local food pantry.
When she’s not at 7 Devils, you can find Annie in her organic garden, out mushroom hunting, or elsewhere in Coos Bay with Carmen, their daughter and their dog.
Carmen Matthews
Brewer| Surfer | Councilman
Carmen Matthews, co-owner and head brewer of the 7 Devils Brewing Co., began his tenure in the beverage industry as a barista for locally owned Dutch Bros. Coffee. Trading in caffeination for fermentation, Carmen developed a passion for the art of craft brewing and all things pub culture. Carmen and his wife/co-owner, Annie Pollard had a common interest in home brewing when they first met, and began crafting recipes together. Their shared love of beer and community culminated in the duo opening the 7 Devils Brewery and Tap Room in their home base of Coos Bay, OR. Carmen grew up on the coast in a surf-loving family of artists. His deep love and respect for the coast and its inhabitants inspired the ethos behind 7 Devils; peace, love, music, and beer. Carmen’s community outreach extends from working with the Oregon Coast Music Association, and Coos Bay Parks Commission, Coos Bay/ North Bend Waterboard, Surfrider, all the way to becoming a Coos Bay City Councilman. He’s also encouraged 7 Devils to become a stronghold for non-profit and community events, as was intended from the beginning.
